Justice denied and the value of life

A resentencing was held yesterday for the judge to correct the illegal sentence from July 8. His original sentence was 3 years at hard labor and suspend all but 13 months. Because it is illegal to suspend any of the sentence for a violent felony (of which there were 3), he had to correct the sentence. He said his intention was for the felon to only spend 13 months at hard labor, so this was his final answer. 13 months, for all 3 violent crimes committed with a firearm, all to run concurrently. 

He calls this Justice. 

And, he calls the St. Martin Parish Jail "hard labor."

His reasoning behind this travesty involved the "Teen Brain Theory," which asserts that the teen male frontal lobe is not fully connected at 18 years of age, causing poor impulse control and excusing him for the murder of my son. Ironic that the Selective Service still wants those 18 year old males to defend our country. Austin would have turned 18 last week. This came in the mail yesterday. 

Sitting at home during the evening, reeling over the days events, the news cuts in with a shooting at a local theater. Quickly it became national news. 3 dead, 7 others injured. 

When did life become so disposable? God help us all.
